Edward “Casey” Jarvis, the founder of JARCO
Inc. and a past chairman of the Western Propane Gas Association,
died July 10. He was 86.
Trained as an engineer, Mr. Jarvis began his career in
1947 as a salesman with Superior Tank Co. in southern California.
In 1959, he founded JARCO to provide custom delivery trucks
to propane retailers and independent marketers. Today,
JARCO – which is now a division of Polar Service Centers
– has produced more than 5,000 trucks for customers in
more than 20 countries.
Mr. Jarvis was active in the National Propane Gas Association,
served as WPGA’s president in 1970-71, and in 2007 received
WPGA’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award.
Funeral services with military honors
were held July 14 in his hometown of Corona del Mar. Mr.
Jarvis was preceded in death three months earlier by his
wife of 63 years, Helen. He is survived by four children,
Nancy Coop, Julie Tierney, Peter Jarvis and Michael Jarvis;
nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. [more]
